Claflin University Honors Valentine-Parris with a Sendoff

Bessie Byrd, Liz Zimmerman Keitt (Mayor Pro tem Orangeburg, S.C.), Dr. Henry N. Tisdale (President, Claflin University), Brandon Valentine-Parris, Lincoln London (Claflin University Head Cross-Country, Track & Field Coach), Dr. Jerome Fitch (Athletics Director, Claflin University) along with Claflin University alumni, athletic and university staff and student-athlete.

Orangeburg, S.C.–With just over a week away from the 2016 Olympics, Claflin University honored its first-ever Olympian, Brandon Valentine-Parris, with a sendoff, Thursday, July 28 in the President’s Boardroom.  In attendance at the sendoff was the President of the University, Dr. Henry N. Tisdale, the athletics director Dr. Jerome Fitch, Orangeburg, S.C. Mayor Pro Tem Liz Zimmerman Keitt and members of the athletic and university staff along with Claflin University alumni.  Also in attendance were members of the University’s track & field team.

President Tisdale along with Dr. Fitch and Mrs. Keitt provided congratulations and well wishes as Valentine-Parris departs today for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.  Valentine-Parris will represent his home country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the 400 meters.

The opening ceremony for the 2016 Olympics is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 5 with the track and field portion getting underway on Continue reading

Vincentian Brandon Parris to Represent Claflin University in the 2016 Olympics in Rio!

Claflin University Track & Field standout Brandon Valentine-Parris. Valentine – Parris has qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio!

Brandon finished third in the 400 meters and will represent his home country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
