Orangeburg, S.C.–With just over a week away from the 2016 Olympics, Claflin University honored its first-ever Olympian, Brandon Valentine-Parris, with a sendoff, Thursday, July 28 in the President’s Boardroom. In attendance at the sendoff was the President of the University, Dr. Henry N. Tisdale, the athletics director Dr. Jerome Fitch, Orangeburg, S.C. Mayor Pro Tem Liz Zimmerman Keitt and members of the athletic and university staff along with Claflin University alumni. Also in attendance were members of the University’s track & field team.
President Tisdale along with Dr. Fitch and Mrs. Keitt provided congratulations and well wishes as Valentine-Parris departs today for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Valentine-Parris will represent his home country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the 400 meters.
