Bazodee, Starring Machel Montano, Premieres Tonight In Trinidad

Machel Montano, Trinidad & Tobago’s Soca King and reigning International Power Soca Monarch, is now making his debut in the film industry with the musical drama – “Bazodee.”

Machel plays the role of Lee, a rugged soca singer, who falls in love with a beautiful Indian woman named Anita. However, Anita is engaged to another man, Kumar, a man she is not in love with. Lee meets Anita when she hires him, last minute, to perform at her engagement party and they fall for each other. Anita’s future brother-in-law, Nikhil, notices the chemistry between the two, and after discovering that Anita’s father, Ram, was secretly deep in debt, threatens to expose everything, in a plot to destroy Anita, her family and her love.

Anita’s role is played by Natalie Perera, Kumar is played by Staz Nair, Nikhil is played by UK-based Trinidadian actor Valmike Rampersad and Ram is played by Bollywood star Kabir Bedi. The film also features local Trinidadian actors and was directed by award winning American Film and television writer, producer and director – Todd Kessler. Vincentian producer Alex “Kubiyashi” Barnwell also worked on the production of the film and played the role of a DJ.

The film makes its world premiere in the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival, tonight, at Movie Town in Trinidad, followed by an after party.
