‘Macka’ slated for South Coast fest

22 Jul

Dancehall deejay Macka Diamond, and recently crowned Magnum Queen of the Dancehall, Tripple A, are among several top acts slated to perform at the inaugural staging of the South Coast Rum Food and Music Festival scheduled for the Coastline Beach, Black River in St Elizabeth, on Saturday.

Stephanie Elliott, CEO of Compass Communication and event’s promoter, said the line-up also includes many young, rising artistes from communities across the island’s south coast.

“Macka Diamond is a veteran in the business. She has crowd appeal and her different genre of music covers both the young and old,” Elliot told the Jamaica Observer. She said Tripple A was dancehall’s latest attraction and is suited for the occasion. “She is young, vibrant and current. Young people will be excited by her,” she said.

Elliott said the family-friendly entertainment package would also include up-and-coming acts Clarendon’s D’Versity, Soldier Man, Metacalise, ML, Junior C, Garren and Junior Elliott.

The promoters have partnered with Nationwide Express Tours to shuttle people from various points to the event and back. The pickup points are the Greater Portmore Shopping Centre, Lime Light Plaza in Half-Way- Tree, GateWay Plaza in Old Harbour and Bargain Village Plaza in May Pen.
