He’s So Stupid-The Man Behind It

30 Oct

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Celebrated 35 years of Political Independence on the 27th October, highlighting a proud “Vincy” The Metro Caribbean Team caught up with comedian Jaron “Shotta Jay” Muckette.

So tell us, how did you get the name Shotta Jay?

It all started when i was about 12 years old, I was given the name” Baby Shotta” by a close friend of mine. I had acknowledge the name for quite some time until I came to America, I realize i was getting older & I wasn’t a baby any more so I decide to change it to “Shotta Jay” .Shotta Jay highlights the fun person everyone loves being around  and  the person that cheers you up.

Your videos have become popular on Social Medias, how did you get into making humorous videos?

Yes, they are and I am grateful for the continued support I having been receiving. I started doing videos around the time Vine became popular, I uploaded a few videos and never thought I would capture the likes of somany people. Their request was for more videos so grabbed my camera and started doing longer clips which I continued for over I year now. That was the beginning of my social media page “He’s So StupidTV.”

We realized your videos are based around West Indian people and culture, what is the connection you have with West Indian people?

I live in America and I grew up around Jamaicans but St Vincent and the Grenadines is my homeland. I was born and raised in the community of Sion Hill also known as Walvaroo..

You mentioned about “He’s So Stupid TV”, Tell us more about that?

The idea of “He’s So StupidTV” all began when people started saying “I’m so stupid”, because of the laugher I brought to them.  I turned the phrase into “He’s So StupidTV.” He’s So StupidTV” is a Caribbean page found on Facebook to highlight our Caribbean culture and to bring laughter in the hearts of West Indian people and others around the world. The skits are based on my childhood experiences growing up amongst West Indian people.

Who would you say motivated you to get in to acting?

I am motivated by many, such as Tyler Perry, Kevin Hart, Idris Elba & Andrew Trabass (also a West Indian comedian). I love their work!!

And finally, where do you see yourself in the next 5years?

On TV screens doing what I love, entertaining the world after all I see myself as an entertainer.

Any final words?

I would like to say thank you to all my fans, it’s a blessing and a great pleasure to make people laugh all over the world. Special thanks, to my mother for always being there to support me and my grandmother who is no longer here physically but still present in my heart. To Alexis, thank you for being one of the characters seen in my videos.

The Metro Caribbean Team wishes Shotta Jay the best of luck in all of your future endeavors. We have no doubt that you will make all the West Indian people proud especially your homeland, St Vincent and the Grenadines.
