Toronto-based Grenadian soca and calypso artistes to organise against exploitation

We celebrated another Grenada Day on August 23, 2014, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; similar to how Grenadians in New York have their own celebration. However, even though there is no calypso and soca monarch competitions for Grenadian artistes based in Toronto, they are aware of the fact that they are getting the recognition and respect from the organisers of the event. On the other, it is unfair for the organisers to be labeling them as local artistes.

It is very important for the organisers to know that they are disrespecting those Grenadians artistes in Toronto. The organisers must come to their senses and suppose to know that our artistes in Toronto are not begging them to perform in this cultural annual event, as they tend to believe they are doing those artistes a favour. Trinidad and Tobago to Hold Investment Conference in New York City

Trinidad and Tobago is ramping up its push to attract foreign investment.

The country’s government announced this week that it would be holding an investment conference in New York later this month.

The conference, which will take place on Sept. 25, will be held at the Council on Foreign Relations on E 68th Street.

The event will focus on the country’s “competitive advantages as a business location” and its “advancements in economic diversification, foreign investment, foreign policy, energy, competitiveness and innovation,”according to a release.

Dominican Republic’s Sanctuary Cap Cana to Undergo Renovation

Alsol Hotels & Resorts’ Sanctuary Cap Cana will be closing this month for renovations, the company announced. The property, which is located in the exclusive enclave of Cap Cana, will reopen Dec. 15. The company said the work would include new common areas, room upgrades and updates to interior decorations and furniture, among others.
